RM270 million allocated to support businesses through ECF and P2P platforms

Budget 2027 provides RM270 million to support SMEs, mid-tier companies and social enterprises through Equity Crowdfunding and peer-to-peer financing platforms.

What this means · Issuers

For suitable issuers, alternative capital channels remain an explicit policy priority. This increases the importance of campaign readiness, evidence quality and selecting the right regulated pathway rather than treating ECF as a last-minute fundraising option.

ECF individual-investor income-tax incentive extended to 31 December 2030

Budget 2027 extends the published income-tax incentive for qualifying individual investors investing through ECF platforms until the end of 2030.

What this means · Investors

The extension may improve the attractiveness of qualifying ECF participation for eligible individual investors, but campaign-specific eligibility and tax conditions still need to be checked. It should be presented as an incentive framework, not as an investment return.

Securities Commission highlights Budget 2027 support for ECF and P2P

The Securities Commission said the RM270 million allocation and continued fiscal support should expand financing options for MSMEs and strengthen Malaysia’s alternative-financing ecosystem.

What this means · Both

For issuers and advisers, the policy direction reinforces ECF and P2P as part of the mainstream capital-formation toolkit. Strong governance, disclosure and suitability processes remain central to accessing that ecosystem credibly.
